Photographs at celebrations and activities

The Mission may photograph or record Masses, patronal feasts, processions, faith formation classes and community activities. By attending a public Mission event you may appear incidentally in one of those photographs.

Those images may be published on this site, in the bulletin, on the Mission social media and in its historical archive. They are not sold, not transferred to third parties for commercial purposes, and not used in paid advertising.

Children and young people

Photographs in which a child is recognisable and is the main subject receive different care from the rest. A child's full name is not published alongside their photograph, nor is any information that would allow them to be located, such as their school or their class schedule.

If you are a parent or guardian and prefer that your child not appear, simply tell the Mission: a word is enough, no reason or paperwork required. And if you see a published photograph of your child that you do not want there, ask us to take it down and we will.

The formal consent procedure for photographs of children in faith formation and youth group activities follows the norms of the Diocese of Tyler. The Mission will tell you which form applies in each case.

How to ask us to remove a photograph

Call the Mission, tell us which page it is on and which person in the photograph you are referring to. You do not have to explain why. We act on the request without arguing it.

During Mass

Photographing or recording must never interfere with the celebration. At baptisms, weddings and quinceaneras, speak with the priest beforehand about where the photographer may stand. During the consecration we ask you to put your phone down.

Photographs you send us

If you share a photograph with us for the site or the bulletin, we understand that you took it or have permission to share it, and that the recognisable people in it agree.

Photographs published by others

The Mission does not control what those attending publish on their own social media. If you are concerned about a photograph published by another person, that request must be directed to whoever published it or to the platform concerned.

The image of Our Lady of Guadalupe

The image of the Virgin is an object of devotion, not a graphic asset. Neither the Mission nor those who work with it crop it, animate it, add text or filters to it, or use it as a background, texture, icon or avatar. We ask the same respect of you.
